Espai Mimosa is a holistic support centre for children and families. We help children unlock their full potential and overcome possible difficulties, while strengthening the role of parents as key figures in their emotional wellbeing. We believe in the active presence of the family throughout the entire therapeutic process, and we work from a global and respectful perspective, integrating education, neuroscience and connection with nature.
Espai Mimosa is a specialised centre where children and families find professional support and practical tools to face developmental and everyday life challenges, in a warm and trustworthy environment.
Espai Mimosa was founded by Sònia Oriol and Alba Serrano.
Sònia (Son to her friends) is co-founder of Mimosa and Business & Finance Director. She holds a double degree in Business Administration and Law from UPF (Barcelona) and has over 10 years of experience in finance, investment and digital transformation, having lived on three different continents.
She has been deeply connected to the world of education and neurodevelopment since childhood, influenced by her family background. Throughout her school and university years, she accompanied children and teenagers as a tutor and ski instructor — an experience that confirmed her passion for working with children.
Son is passionate about travelling and discovering new cultures, especially in emerging countries. She finds balance through movement and nature, practises yoga and skiing, enjoys horse riding, and treasures quality time with her loved ones.
Alba is co-founder and Clinical Director of Espai Mimosa.
She is a General Health Psychologist and Neuropsychologist with more than 13 years of experience in psychological support, diagnosis and intervention in neurodevelopmental, emotional and behavioural disorders. She is certified in Positive Discipline for Families. Throughout her career, she has worked in and directed several child and adolescent mental health centres, specialising in child development and family support.
Alba loves cooking and enjoys both preparing and sharing a good meal — always better with a glass of wine. She has a special fondness for Asian food. She deeply values quality family time and loves playing with her daughter. Menorca, with its sea and light, is her place for disconnection and inspiration. Travelling and discovering new cultures complete her passions.
Espai Mimosa was born from the personal and professional journeys of its founders, Alba and Son.
Alba, a neuropsychologist, has spent years working with children and families in the field of neuropsychological intervention and parental counselling. Throughout her career, she has witnessed first-hand how the active involvement of parents can deeply transform their children’s emotional wellbeing. This conviction has only grown stronger through her own experience as a mother. Her passion lies in empowering parents and helping families build strong, healthy bonds — the foundation of every child’s emotional balance.
Son, with a mindset closely connected to education and neurodevelopment, has travelled the world visiting schools, innovative centres and professionals in the field. From this journey came the inspiration to create a space where community, family and nature converge.
Thus, Espai Mimosa became a living project that accompanies children and their families along their growth journey. We work both with children — helping them unlock their potential and overcome difficulties — and with their families, offering comprehensive support that strengthens bonds and promotes emotional wellbeing across the entire family system.
We wanted a name that evoked nature — one of the core pillars of our project — and the mimosa is a plant loved by both Alba and Son. The plant’s bright yellow colour represents joy, and its sensitivity mirrors the children and families who will be part of Mimosa’s story.
We also play with the Spanish verb “mimar” (“to nurture, to care for”), which reflects our intention to lovingly support everyone who comes through our doors.
And finally, the fact that “Mimosa” ends with an S and an A — just like Son and Alba — is a happy coincidence :)

At Espai Mimosa, we know that coming to us often begins with a feeling — a question, a doubt or an intuition And we also know it’s not always easy to find words for what’s happening at home, at school or in your child’s heart.
That’s why the first step is always to listen. We offer an initial meeting to understand your family’s situation in depth. If needed, we start a full evaluation process with our team (neuropsychologists, psychologists, speech and language therapists and educational specialists), always from a holistic and respectful approach.
After the initial assessment, we design a personalised plan adapted to your family’s moment. This may include therapeutic sessions for children, spaces to strengthen family bonds, and parental guidance.
At Espai Mimosa, we deeply believe in parental presence: families are an active part of the entire therapeutic process. Parental participation is not only important — it’s essential to support the child’s growth and the well-being of the entire family system. Throughout the process, parents join their children in sessions, observe our methods in action and learn practical tools to apply at home. We promote daily, open and ongoing communication with families to resolve doubts and adjust strategies as we go.
